We usually practice in a private house in a beautiful location just 15 minutes walk from Matlock Bath Station. This is set up like a miniature Zen temple with a peaceful meditation room overlooking the Bath Meadows.
From Matlock Bath station: find the paved road at the north end of the station car park, leading to the cablecar for the Heights of Abraham. (The foot-crossing over the railway line signed “Overcrossing to the cablecars” is now closed, 2019). Follow the narrow road northwards to the stone bridge under the railway line and the cablecar ground station.
If coming by bus, alight at the northern end of Matlock Bath, bus stops called Midland Pub, Station or Cablecar. If coming by car, park in the station car park (expensive) or on the A6 Dale Road north of Matlock Bath, which costs nothing. Go over the iron footbridge and under the stone railway bridge to the cablecar ground station.
Passing between the cablecar ground station and a house, enter beside the five-bar gate onto the footpath leading eastwards uphill. You will pass another stone gateway on your left with an arched sign saying “High Tor Grounds”. Keep straight on up the path with the woodlands of High Tor Grounds on your left. Where a smaller path forks to the right half way up, continue left on the main path.
Look for the first house you come to. The garden is up a steep bank on your left, and you can see the dharma room, but go to the top and turn left: it is the last house on the left by the woods, called Kubong-Sa.
